Recent Changes to Our Packaging
Posted on: 29/01/2026
Packaging is the single biggest area where our products impact the environment. Even before Covid-19, consumer expectations were already shifting, with growing pressure on brands, retailers and manufacturers to reduce packaging waste and offer more sustainable alternatives.
During the pandemic, priorities understandably changed. Hygiene became one of the main focuses, leading to an increase in plastic packaging due to its durability and ease of cleaning. Since then, attitudes have shifted again. More consumers are now willing to pay extra for products that come in sustainable packaging, and they increasingly expect brands to take the lead.

In fact, 37% of consumers believe that brand owners are responsible for driving sustainability in packaging. While regulators, manufacturers, retailers and consumers all play a role, we agree that brands can do more to set the standard. That belief is driving the changes we are making across our range.
Moving Away from Skinpack Packaging
Traditional skinpack packaging presents real recycling challenges. As it combines plastic and card, it cannot be recycled through standard household systems unless the materials are separated. In most cases, this means it ends up in landfill.
To address this, we are replacing skinpack packaging across our ironmongery range. Our new ironmongery bags are made with 30% recycled material and are fully recyclable, offering a clear improvement without compromising product protection or presentation.
We have committed to removing all skinpack packaging by the end of 2026 and we are currently on track to meet that target.
Andersons Repair Shop Range
DIY and upcycling have recently seen a growth in popularity, driven by popular television programmes and social media trends. More consumers are becoming inspired to tackle repairs and renovations themselves rather than purchasing new and throwing away old items.
The Andersons Repair Shop range was developed with this audience in mind. Each product is supplied in either a fully compostable bag and label or recyclable card packaging. The range was designed to work particularly well in garden centres and retail environments where customers may feel overwhelmed by a traditional hardware aisle.
The packaging is not only sustainable but also looks great on shelf. Clear branding, clean design and easy-to-understand labelling help the products stand out and appeal to homeowners who want to take on their own upcycling projects.
Delivery Packaging
While not a recent change, all our delivery packaging is FSC certified. This ensures that the materials come from responsibly managed forests and supports sustainable supply chains throughout our distribution network.
Why We’ve Made These Changes
The majority of feedback on our packaging updates has been positive, although we understand that changes can raise questions, particularly around shelf presence and customer perception.
We sell hundreds of thousands of products and ship thousands of orders every year, which adds up to a significant amount of packaging. Moving to more sustainable solutions allows us to reduce environmental impact at scale, while still delivering products that look good, protect stock and perform well in store.
We are confident we are on the right path, but we always welcome feedback. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding our packaging, please contact us at sales@centurioneurope.co.uk.
Thank you for your patience during our transition period, and please be assured that we have your business and the environment in mind with everything we do.
